é morta ieri a 90 anni Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, famosa soprano austriaca ( per inciso, dal suo matrimonio era suddita americana), famosa interprete mozartiana, per anni di casa all'Opera di Vienna.
A trieste non ricordo se cantò al Verdi,forse negli anni 50, ma ebbi occasione di sentirla due volte al Politeama Rossetti per la Società dei Concerti, negli anni 70: cantò lieder di Schubert ( ricordi Die Forelle-la trota) e di Hugo Wolf. La ricorderò come una bellissima voce, chiara, limpida, liscia, una bellissima figura bionda avvolta in un abito di velo verde o azzurro.

Un'altra dele grandi xe sparida. No la jera una dele mie preferide, ma solamente perche` no son un grande amirador dela musica e dei compositori che la interpretava.

Quanti de questa generazion resta? Giulietta Simonato, Giuseppe Taddei, Rise Stevens....no rivo a pensar a altri. Alda Noni xe ancora viva me par, ma no credo che se la pol meter nela stessa lega.....

Mah, pareria che la Olivero sia ancora viva si, anche se la sua data de nascita varia dal 1910 al 1912 .

Rise Stevens (la dovessi aver 2 puntini sora la i de Rise per via dela sua discendenza scandinava, la xe un mezzosoprano statunitense nata nel Bronx nel 1913, percio la xe coetanea dela grande Magda.

Durante la sua cariera, fata principalmente al Met ma anche in Europa, la jera forsi la piu` grande Carmen dela sua generazion.

La ga fato anche diversi film, un xe un mio favori`, con Bing Crosby e Barry Fitzgerald, Going my Way, la storia de prete giovine (Crosby), con idee moderne, che zerca de iutar, senza che l'altro sapi, un prete vecio (Fitzgerald) de eta e de abitudini, a tirar la parochia fora dele dificolta` finaziarie.

Dopo che la se gaveva ritira` dala scena, la gaveva anche direto una compagnia lirica (desso no me ricordo quala).

La ricorderò come una bellissima voce, chiara, limpida, liscia, una bellissima figura bionda avvolta in un abito di velo verde o azzurro.

Magda Olivero (born March 25, 1910), a great Italian dramatic soprano, is considered by many to be the last of the great verismo sopranos.

She was coached by composer Francesco Cilea, and she even returned after ten years of retirement to sing his opera Adriana Lecouvreur at his request. She made her debut in 1932 for Turin Radio, singing in Nino Cattozzo's I misteri dolorosi, and her last appearance on the stage was at the Teatro Filarmonico of Verona in 1981, singing Francis Poulenc's La voix humaine. Olivero was a master at conveying the tension and relaxation in the music through her use of rubato, and she often spurred her co-stars on to new dramatic and vocal heights they had never achieved before.

Risë Stevens (born 1913, New York City) (first name properly spelled Risë and pronounced "REE-sah") was an American mezzo-soprano who captured a wide popular audience at the height of her career (1940 - 1960).

She studied at New York’s Juilliard School of Music for three years. She went to Vienna, where she was trained by Marie Gutheil-Schoder and Herbert Graf. She made her début as Mignon in Prague in 1936 and stayed there until 1938, also appearing in guest appearances at the Vienna State Opera. Her Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier was one of her finest and most accomplished roles. She was engaged at the Teatro Colón in 1938 (again as Octavian) and was invited to the Glyndebourne Festival in 1939 where she was heard as Dorabella and Cherubino. In 1938 she made her début at the Metropolitan Opera as Mignon. Three days later, she sang Octavian opposite Lotte Lehmann. In 1941 the singer’s beautiful voice and attractive appearance led the film industry in Hollywood to produce several musical films with her, including The Chocolate Soldier with Nelson Eddy and Going My Way with Bing Crosby (the latter crediting her as a contralto).

For over two decades (until 1961) Stevens was the Met’s leading mezzo-soprano and the only mezzo to command the top billing (and commensurate fees) normally awarded only to star sopranos and tenors. Her most successful roles there included Cherubino, Octavian, Dalila, Laura, Hänsel and Marina. She was especially celebrated for her Carmen, and virtually owned the role during her tenure. Her combination of scrupulous artistry, rich vocal color and movie-star glamour earned her the adulation of a wide public beyond the Met's stage, and she frequently appeared on the nascent medium of television. She also appeared in Paris, London, at La Scala and at the Glyndebourne Festival. She sang her last performance, as Carmen, at the Met in 1961. After her retirement from the opera stage, Stevens served as General Manager of the Metropolitan Opera Touring Company until 1966 and later coached the new generation of singers at the Met.
