QUESTIONS FOR RON

Messaggio da MUSTANGS13 »

Hi Ron, merry Christmas and joyful New year ! I received your answer and I publish here:

hi,

my name is Ricky. I'm actually working (as a hobby) on a new website regarding Trieste during the military occupation (1945-1947) and the Free territory of Trieste (1947-1954).
If you don't mind I will ask you some informations regarding the British Troops as I have very little infos, on the other side I have a lot regarding the Us troops.
Thanks for your attention

Best regards

Ricky

Answer No.1

Our first barracks in Trieste were at Opicina and you can read all about it here:

As a British soldier, I was stationed in the Trieste area from October 1945 until January 1947

Some barracks were certainly in Duino, here, along the road:

These baracks were started in the austrian period and completed by the italians after 1918. As you can see here some of the buildings has been destroyed to built new houses. Some of them are still in position and soldiers used them untill last year. Now they're actually talking to use them as a school.
