Una poesia che definisi ciaramente la idiozia dela guera e de quei che trova divertimento a promover la gloria del combatimento la tua, Marino.

Certi personagi politici che va per la magior dovesi legerla. La fa quasi de pianzer. Impareremo mai dei nostri sbagli?

In efeti me ga sempre meravigliado che in queste poesie anglosasone dela prima guera se parla assai poco de eroismi e de generali...I 'eroi' xe sempre i poveri fanti. E qua in Inghiltera, quando i parla de la Grande Guera, i disi che l'esercito iera uno de 'leoni comandado per i mussi' (An Army of lions leaded by donkeys).

In contrasto, de quel che me ricordo in Italia, se ga sempre zercado el 'eroe individual' o se ga tratado de crearghe meriti ai vari generai..
O perlomeno, lassar intender che quei che moriva i se sacrificava assai contenti de morir per la Patria.

Quando nel 1964, al Festival dei Due Mondi a Spoleto, i gaveva presentado sta canzon che gaveva cantado i soldai al fronte, no ve digo che scandalo che se gaveva creado, con le varie autoritá che gaveva lassado la sala protestando (???).

Sotto l'acqua che cadeva a rovesci
Grandinavano le palle nemiche

Comunque questa poesia la xe dedicada a TUTI i soldai che xe morti in TUTE le guere

In effetti, la lettura del libro de Greaves "Goodbye to all that" me ga sciarido tante robe sula loro esperienza della guerra.
D'altro canto, xe de dir che i Inglesi no gaveva avudo alle spalle un Risorgimento, con tutta la retorica annessa, che i xe andai in guerra, beh, ovviamente per i trattati, ma con ogni probabilità per difender la loro industria minacciada de quela tedesca, e che nei loro campi de battaglia fra Ardenne, Chemin des dames, etc.. credo che i gabi avudo più morti che de noi qua sul Isonzo, anche se la storia, vista de l'Italia, privilegia el fronte local.
per la canzon o Gorizia tu sei maledetta, la fa parte de tutto un filon de canzoni del fronte, disemo quanto meno antiretoriche, per no dir disfattiste, che xe restado sotterraneo per tanti anni. Le xe stade rivalutade a l'epoca de "mettete dei fiori nei vostri cannoni", per chi che se ricorda.

In the UK, the first Sunday following the 11th of November is normally the accepted day for National Rembrance and HM The Queen attends a ceremony at the Cenotaph in Whitehall.

On the following Sunday, AJEX (Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen & Women) hold an adiitional ceremony at the Cenotaph and I have been attending at that parade since 1947.

The photo shows myself (on the right) and my "old" friend Lewis Fox, who I served with as a wireless operator and who I meet up with at least once every week while I try to teach him computing !
