Ron's Army Album

Messaggio da Ron »

In some of the articles that I have posted on this forum I have made reference to my Army Album.

I created this Album in 1946, while I was still in the Trieste area, and it has survived some 64 years !

I have now donated the Album to the Imerial War Museum in London, where it will be made available for the use of WW2 researchers.

I have duplicated the album on my Blogsite here:

Your English is quite OK

No Sir, the tank behind me was General Montgomety's M4 Sherman Tank

Best regards

Ron

I owe you an apology

Shortly after I posted my article on the ww2talk.com forum one of the members wrote me the following.

"That's not Monty's tank, Ron.
It's a Guards Armoured Div Sherman, of 2nd (Armd) Bn Grenadier Guards.
http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/general...divisions.html
Monty's tank was the Grant next to it painted desert yellow."

It just shows you that old soldiers can have bad memories

Best regards

Ron

Dear Ron, maybe we had the same boss. From August 1945 up to April 1947 I worked as civilian in the kitchen at Piazza Oberdan. Then from September 1948 till April 1949 for BETFOR as typist. I was known as Bernard. May be we met. Since 1953 I'm living in Germany and seldom have occasion to talk English (British English). We have here only Americans. I picked up my English, barrack's English, with all the nice short words. Greetings from Old germany.

Hi Ciancele

If you GOOGLE "ron goldstein ww2 trieste" you will find many articles I wrote about my time in Trieste. Have a look and then if you find anything of interest you can come back here and we can discuss it further.

Regards

Ron

Maybe Ciancele recall that mural you mentioned. It was about some bunch of grapes and cups overflowing with wine (or something like that) that Ron saw in Trieste while using the facility of a BETFOR canteen/soldiers' club.
We were unable to pinpoint the location.
