Lokev o Corgnal xe un paesetto subito drio el confin de Basovizza, vizin de Lipizza, per cui iero in dubbio se metterlo sui paesi carsici o in Slovenia.
Al de là de alcune famose trattorie (Muha iera famosa za de prima dela guerra), el ga una bellissima torre rotonda, sembrassi difesa contro le scorrerie turche e una cocola cesetta antica, che qua ve posto, e che ga una antica scritta medieval che la data del quattrocento

I'm having little trouble understanding what you wrote, but i get the general idea ('cause i speak spanish)...

You mention something about the once famous (didn't know it was famous) Muha Trattorie... Muha/Mucha is the same name!... do you know anything more on this Gostilna Muha? (that's all i know in slovenian!)---

Do you know anything else on Lokev or the meaning of that sign above the chapell?

I have a little book about Corgnale- Lokev ( Cannarella- Sfregola Corgnale e i suoi monti) explaining something about the churches:
There are two churches in Corgnale, the bigger is the parish church of S Michele, and the other, the smaller, of the Virgin Mary, the first image is of the wall of the first one, the other images ar of the latter
( Ghe xe do Cese a Corgnal, la parochial dedicada a San Michele, la seconda più picia ala Madonna, la prima foto xe del muro dela prima e le altre do dela seconda)
The inscription I can read as:
ANNO DOM MCCC XXVI
HOC OPUS FECIT FIERI (?) ERVARDUS ...

ad 1426 This work made Ervardus
and the ( i take from the book) in name of All Saints with the help of the neighborhood

The old inn Muha in an ancient post station, there is the date 1679, and the A M 1891 which implies it was made for an A Muha. the heirs are still running the inn
( l'antica trattoria de Muha xe un'antica stazion de posta, sula porta xe la data 1679, su un'altra porta xe la data 1891 e le iniziali AM devi esser el Muha che la ga fatta far e i discendenti de Muha la gestisi ancora.)

The Muha Inn is still run by the Muha family! that's some great news! the thing is that i couldn't comunicate with them cause i don't speak slovenian nor italian nor german!.. In this book of yours, there's any info on the families that used to live there like the Mucha/Muha family?

I've found a pic on the tower, is now a Museum! it's so pretty.. lovely town... Anything you can help out with please do!

the latest owner of the Gostilna Muha is Andrej, a guy about 30. His mother Marta still work in the kitchen. Unfortunately his father is dead about 3-4 years ago. Andrej (sometimes Andrea) is quite fluent in italian speaking.

L'ultimo proprietario della trattoria xe Andrea, un mulo sui 30. La mamma Marta lavora in cusina. Per sfortuna, el papà xe morto circa 3-4 anni fa.
Andrea parla tranquillamente italian.

Hi Adler!... Do you know Andrej?... i'd imagine that as the Muha family has lived there since a couple of centuries ago they would know a lot of their family history wouldn't they?... i'm positive that we're related somehow....
But i wouln't be able to have a conversation with Andrej unless he speaks english (or spanish... it's fair to dream right?!)... i'm sorry about his father dying...

Anche se non go ancora fato una foto della torre go letto che a Lokev, che in sloven vol dir qualcossa tipo "piccola pozza", sembra accertada la presenza dei Templari za nel 1400. Corgnale qualchidun pensa che derivi da Korn, grano in tedesco. Probabilmente tutto l'abitado jera 4 case o poco più intorno la torre, che però vegnerà za modificada verso el 1500 prosciugando el fossato ed eliminando el ponte levatoio, ma zontando el tetto conico a spiovente per adeguarse all'evoluzion delle armi.
Una delle ultime modifiche fatte alla torre xe le finestre, zontade in epoca moderna per gli usi civili dell'edificio.

Sul nome, effettivamente i do nomi Lokev e Corgnal xe indipendenti, e i xe tuti do attestai storicamente: la version più diffusa sul significato de Corgnal la fa derivar del corniolo, Cornus mas, albero diffuso in Carso, , ghe xe un documento del 1304 che scrivi "Villa Chorgnalis", una riunion in cui iera presente, per el vescovo Pedrazzani de Trieste.. Marcho Rampho !!!
Compari anca la version Kornhalle (deposito de gran) e un misterioso Hulben ( documento del 1570) La carta del 1525 scrivi Corgnal, mantre le carte austriache antiche scrivi spesso Lokow.
Se te passi de quele parti, va a zercar, verso el bivio con Lipizza, , una stele, che i disi bellissima; xe un cippo confinario: sul lato davanti xe scritto, in stampatello maiuscolo ( ): CONFINIA URBIS TERGESTEM/CASTRI AC SCHWARZENEGG/LOCIS IN LAUDO ANNI/MDCCXXXII SIGNATIS/DECRETO e po MARIAE THERESIAE ROM IMP/HUN BOH REGINAE/ CONFIRMATA/ UTRIUSQUEDITIONIS AERE/ REPOSITA/ DIE V MAY ANNO MDCCLI, sora xe un stemma de Trieste e drio xe XXIII/ Cornial/ 1818 .
( el fantasioso Cobol de l'Alpina delle Giulie nel 1907 fa discender Cornial da un roman Corneliano...)
( la contea Schwarzenegg comprendeva Sesana e Corgnal)
Per le do cese, xe pien de lapidi de anni diversi, in particolar, per chi che ghe piasi ai affreschi de Tone Kralj, quel de Cattinara, ghe ne trovè nel cesa principal dedicada a san Michele

Ps per Adler: no pol esser i Templari "za nel 1400", visto che i Templari i li ga fatti fora nel 1313 - se sospetta una prima cesa dei Templari verso el 1118 - (mi no go mai capido se veramente i templari iera un poco dappertutto o se xe una moda trovarli un poco dappertutto, per far più misterioso)

You know what?, now i understaind a lot of you wonderful triestinos write! All about the origin of the name, about the inscription, and a couple of things of the rest... How come you know that much about this town?
Do you know about some other sources of info on the town? 'cause i can't find stuff like what you wrote, you know, the history of the town, maybe this way i could undertaind more about the family, my guess so far is that it was Wolfgang de Mucha's mother (Anna Maria Schiffrer von Schifferstein) who was originally from the place 'cause aparentely her husband after losing his welth 'cause of the wars with Napoleon moved from Tieste to Lokev to live out of his wife's wealth! but what keeps making me dismisse this theory of mine is the excistance of the Mucha Inn (Gostilna Muha) which apparentely has been there since before Wolfgang's birth!...

Please help me to track down this bunch of loose ends...

per chi che no segui la sezion inglese, el nostro mauricioom ne ga messo el indirizzo de un sito su Corgnal

che xe cocolo, con un per de foto, pice, ma interessanti, dela cesa, del tabor, dela stele che disevo e el testo latin (foto purtroppo in sto caso modestina come qualità) , vece cartoline, e i cognomi antichi , ovviamente lu ghe interessa la conferma che i Muha attuali nel '600 iera Mucha, ma anche là troverè molti cognomi, che a Trieste ga ancora la grafia del 600, e la loro trascrizion nel cognome sloven contemporaneo. El modo de scriver cambia, ma la pronuncia dovessi esser sempre più o meno la stessa.

Per no aver problemi, soto l’Austria l’anagrafe gaveva le schede in ordine alfabetico e po’ anche in ordine fonetico. Cussì se un se ciamava, per esempio, Costrouska (C con la pipa) te lo trovavi soto la “C” in ordine alfabetico, ma el podeva aver el fradel o el papà che in alfabetico el iera soto la “T” perché el prete slovaco gaveva scrito Tchowstrwscka (invento per ché no so el slovaco, ma xe per far capir) che magari se pronunciava sempre con la “C” iniziale. E alora, sicome l’Austria iera un paese ordinato, te trovavi tuti e do soto la “C” in archivio fonetico.
